A longer needle can hold more stitches along a straight row; a shorter one is easier to turn in a confined area. Length does not tell you the eye size. Check that your chosen Olympus or Daruma thread passes through the eye freely, then test the needle through your actual cloth and layers.
Kogin, felting and general repair needles serve different techniques. Compare the exact pack rather than treating every needle here as interchangeable. Choose a thread and needle together.
